The NRS or National Redress Scheme is a plan created following the results of the Royal Commission Sexual Abuse. The Scheme’s intention is to acknowledge child sexual abuse took place, to provide support for childhood trauma in adults, and National Redress Scheme payments. It cannot undo the pain and trauma, but it is an acknowledgement and attempt at reparations. It’s also a way to hold the institutions responsible for the abuse accountable. If eligible, you may be entitled to a direct response from the responsible institution, funded counselling, and an NRS payment.
